Why is Aileen Wuornos considered a serial killer?
The FBI defines serial murder as: A minimum of three to four victims, with a "cooling off" period in between; The killer is usually a stranger to the victim — the murders appear unconnected or random; The murders reflect a need to sadistically dominate the victim; The murder is rarely "for profit"; the motive is psychological, not material; The victim may have "symbolic" value for the killer; method of killing may reveal this meaning; Killers often choose victims who are vulnerable (prostitutes, runaways, etc.) She killed the men for profit because she didnt know how to survive, and she couldn't function in normal society. She had a motive. She was cognizant and lucid. Also, the victims weren't random, they were all truck drivers, or people who picked up hitchhikers.

- She still murdered several men. She was a prostitute who figured it was more profitable to kill the johns and rob them. She is still a serial murderer even though she does not fit into the more typical.
- The same reason Ted Bundy is a seriel killer. She had a pattern and killed 7 men.
- Why would you pose this question when you already know the answer. She was a Virginal Nun and prayed every day.
- Females are rare in the serial-killer classification; most serial murders (and regular murders) are committed by men. The FBI's definition of a serial murder was based on traits that past serial murderers have had in common (profile). Since they were men, it defines the male serial-murderer. Female serial murderers obviously have other characteristicsand motives, but because there have been so few of them thru history, it would be difficult to define them by the FBI's definition. Let's hope it stays that way 'cuz we don't need any more serial murderers! Sure hope this helps!
