Do you agree with using Aileen Wuornos in an advertising campaign to put men off using prostitutes?

- I doubt they'd have a clue who she is....(was). Can you say........Face-recognition? ---- Name-recognition?
- Yeah, totally. Let's use Ted Bundy to put women off going out at night, for that matter. I hope you can detect the sarcasm. But the first answerer's right, most people, especially outside the US, wouldn't know her.

- Aileen Wuornos was an American serial killer who killed seven men in Florida between 1989 and 1990, later claiming they raped or attempted to rape her while she was working as a prostitute. She was executed in 2002 by lethal injection. Advertising has tried to stop men using prostitutes, from moral, health and legal perspectives as well as shame. In a culture where morals seem to be "if I feel it's ok, it must be right", where we have pills to cure or control all kinds of diseases, and lawyers who "will get you off, and having a name printed in the paper means nothing, especially if it occurs out of state (What ever happens in .... stays in ....), none of these seem to be very effective. This takes the tactic of saying, it is downright dangerous. The odds of it doing any good are slim to none, in light of previous experience. Everyone thinks they are essentially immune from crime, with a "it won't happen to me" attitude. But that said, maybe, just maybe it will stop a few.
